Jackalberry, which is named after the native African tree, has just opened in the CBD and we suggest cocktail connoisseurs take note.
Nestled inside a heritage building, the interior of Jackalberry is eclectic, with warm leathers and woods, safari inspired wallpaper, velvet booth seating and pops of greenery coming together to create their global explorer theme.
Whilst Jackalberry has street frontage and entry, it is worth noting the bar is part of The Hyatt Regency Hotel.
At heart Jackalberry is a cocktail bar. Stuart Thomson (ex Untied, Uncle Mings and The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room) is heading up the bar team and they’ve curated a Cocktail Menu that takes you on a trip around the globe.
Your first stop is London with their ‘Hampstead Heath’ cocktail (Sipsmith Gin, Creme de Mure, Blackberry sorbet, Lime juice, Cardamom syrup and Rosewater).
From there, perhaps you might choose to stop in at Mexico, with the ‘Yacatan Punch’ (Don Julio Blanco, Ilegal Reposada Mezcal, Licor 43, Passionfruit, Lime Juice and Spiced Agave).
Or maybe Tanzania is calling with the ‘Livingstone’s Tiki’ (Emperor Heritage Mauritian Rum, Dobson’s Distillery Oak Aged Saffron Gin, Rooibos Tisane, Lemon Oleo Saccharum and Rosemary Honey). The choice is yours!
Of course the team can also make up your favourite classic cocktail, or suggest a cocktail based on your taste preferences, should that be more to your liking.
Along with the Cocktail Menu, Beer, Wines and Spirits are offered, from around the globe of course.
The bar food menu follows suit, offering dishes from around the world.
Perhaps you could start with Marinated Olives from Spain, or Burrata from Italy, Sen Jian Bao from China or maybe a Mufuletta Sandwich from New Orleans!
I think Jackalberry is a particularly great spot for after work drinks. Especially if you are lucky enough to snag a booth!
Oh, and if you want to continue your night, just head upstairs at The Hyatt Regency to their rooftop bar, Zephyr.
